A celebration of a blooming season—Bunga Persik takes the air of your home into a field of spring. Soft in texture and bright in colour, its feminine charms are yet to be caught only by those with sensitive eyes. The base fabric is handwoven by pedal loom weavers in Pak Kadir’s house, Pekalongan.

Deep in the narrow streets of Pekalongan, Central Java, lies Pak Kadir’s house whose weaving workshop has withstood three generations. Already from afar, we can hear a lot of activities, the house is always alive and bustling.

A haven of traditional weaving, Pak Kadir’s exploratory techniques and rigorous archives have influenced and eventually incubated a community of weavers around him. His exemplary archival work reflects meticulous preservation in techniques, designs, and materials that never cease to inspire us as collaborators to revive the old archive.
